Terms and Conditions for Online Auctions

1. This is a public auction, including absentee bids, conducted by Centennial Auctions (the Auctioneer). Centennial Auctions is operated by Scofield Auctions, Inc. The principal auctioneer is Stephen H. Schofield, NH #2272.

2. All floor bidders must sign in with the clerk and receive a bidder number.

3. Absentee bid sheets must be signed and dated. Unsigned bid sheets are invalid and bids will not be executed. Frivolous bids, not remotely commensurate with value, will be rejected.

4. A 15% Buyer's Premium will be added to the hammer price of each lot, to be paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.

5. No lots may be returned by floor bidders, or absentee bidders who have previewed. All of these sales are final. Property is being displayed for thorough public inspection and shall be sold as is, where is, and without recourse for any refund or reduction of the sale price. A lack of authenticity is the only exception. The Auctioneer guarantees that all catalogued items are authentic. All bidders are urged to closely inspect each lot of interest. Bids are by numbered lot. No lots will be broken.

6. Upon the fall of the hammer, or when the Auctioneer says "sold", title on the property shall pass to the highest bidder. Should a tie or dispute arise between two or more bidders, the Auctioneer may reopen the bidding between the high bidders until the property is sold. The decision of the Auctioneer shall be final and absolute.

7. All floor purchases must be paid in full and removed from the premises on the day of sale. Payment shall be in cash, bank or traveler's checks, Visa, Mastercard or Discover. Personal checks may be acceptable if credit has been established prior to sale. The Auctioneer reserves the right to hold merchandise purchased by check until said funds are collected. Any shipping, handling and insurance charges are the buyer's responsibility.

8. Shipping, handling and insurance charges will be paid by each absentee bidder. There is a minimum of $5.00 for any lot(s) shipped. Absentee bids will be executed competitively, at no charge, against other bidders. Lots will be purchased at one bid increment higher.

9. Absentee bidders should bid in whole dollars only. Bids are so much per lot. To conform to the floor action, odd absentee bids will be rounded down to the next logical lower bid. Example: an absentee bid of $92.75 would become $90.00. Bidding increments are dependent upon lot valuation and the Auctioneer's right to regulate the bidding. A clerk or the Auctioneer, will bid on your behalf.

10. Absentee bids are recorded in the order received. When identical bids are tendered, the earliest postmark or lot viewing date takes precedence. The Auctioneer settles consignor accounts within nine (9) calendar days on all lots bought by floor bidders. Floor bids, at the discretion of the auctioneer, may take precedence over absentee bids. New or unknown absentee bidders need to submit a deposit in the amount of 25% of their total bid or an acceptable credit card. Phone bidding must be arranged, and credit card information submitted, at least 48 hours prior to the auction.

11. The Auctioneer is not responsible for errors in bidding by anyone. Please double check your catalog and your bid sheet, and bid on the correct lots.

12. The Auctioneer reserves the right to withdraw any item before or during the sale, to regulate the bidding, to bid on behalf of the owner, to combine lots, and to accept or reject any and all bids.

13. Successful absentee bidders will be invoiced no later than two (2) days after the auction. Payment is due upon receipt of invoice. Invoices not paid within seven (7) days will be considered defaulted. Late payment will negate return privileges. All payments in U. S. Funds. Immediate shipment with guaranteed funds, credit card. Personal checks must clear. Third party checks are not acceptable.

14. Within three (3) days of receipt, absentee bidders planning to return any lots must first call our office at 1-800-292-1191. Failure to call will negate any and all return privileges. Reasons for each return must be given. All lots must be in their original auction lot holder. Auction sales are not approval sales.

15. Returns for lack of authenticity must be made within twenty (20) days of the auction and in their original auction lot holder. Any and all costs related to third party grading or authentication services are exclusively the buyer's responsibility. If authentication will take more than (20) days, our office must be notified, prior to that deadline, at (800) 292-1191. Under no circumstances will a refund be given if a lot is returned after (20) days, without such notification.

16. Non-certified items are graded by the Auctioneer. Grading by Photograde, ANA and over 60 years combined experience. The Auctioneer recognizes that opinions on grading may differ from individual to individual. Grading is not an exact science.

17. Certified items may not be returned because of possible differences of opinion with respect to grade.

18. The Auctioneer charges $25.00 for returned checks. Anyone passing a bad check will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Buyer agrees to pay any and all charges and expenses incurred, including without limitation, reasonable collections and/or attorney fees.

19. The record of the sale kept by the clerk will be taken as final in the event of any dispute.

20. In States other than New Hampshire and unless the bidder has a valid resale number, sales tax will be collected on any purchased items removed from the premises.

21. The Auctioneer reserves the right to postpone the auction. No one may have recourse as a result of any postponement.

22. This auction is being conducted under appropriate State and Local laws and the Uniform Commercial Code. Any additional terms or conditions of sale shall be announced prior to the auction. Bidding on any item indicates acceptance of these terms and conditions.

23. The Auctioneer sells approximately 200 lots per hour. If you are attending in person, plan your bidding accordingly.

24. Lots marked with NR after the description are SOLD AS IS, NO RETURNS.

25. These terms and conditions of sale take precedence over any other published terms and conditions.
